Holistic Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is the most common type of massage and it’s often referred to as ‘Classic Massage’.
The massage techniques vary from slow and gentle to vigorous and intense. There are five styles of strokes: Effleurage (gliding), Petrissage (kneading), Percussion (rhythmic tapping), Friction and Vibration/Shaking.
Swedish Massage is beneficial in many ways. To mention just a few: it can help reduce pain and joint stiffness, increase the level of oxygen in the blood, decrease muscle toxins and ease tension, as well as improve circulation and flexibility. Swedish Massage can also reduce both physical stress and emotional stress.
Deep Tissue/Sports Massage
Deep Tissue/Sports Massage is a type of massage that focuses on realigning the deeper layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer that surrounds your muscles, bones and joints).
Some of the strokes are also used in Swedish/Classic Massage, but the pressure is deeper, slower and concentrated on specific areas of tension and to release trigger points. The therapist can use their fingers, knuckles, hands, elbows and fore arms.
This type of Massage is great for releasing muscle tension and to help reduce aches and pains. It therefore works well on sore shoulders, stiff necks, backs, and tight leg muscles, just to name a few areas.
Seated Acupressure Massage
Seated Acupressure Massage can be carried out at home, but it’s more common for fairs, events, pamper evenings, conferences, at work, etc.
The hands, fingers, thumbs and elbows are used to apply pressure to acupressure points in the back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and head to improve the flow of energy throughout the body. A specially-designed chair ensures that you are comfortable the entire time. The massage is given through the clothes and no oils are used.
This kind of massage is perfect for regular office massages as it relaxes tense muscles whilst invigorating the mind. It’s a proven method to improve employee health, energy levels and work morale!
